Salvage Solutions
The whole world watched when Mammoet recovered the Russian submarine Kursk in 2001. Huisman played an important role. We supplied the grippers for this salvage operation. Our grippers fitted exactly to the construction and were equipped with a locking mechanism. The grippers proved their accuracy, after which Huisman quickly made a name for himself in the salvage world.
A few years later, the Norwegian ship Tricolor sank in the Channel. The ship had 3000 cars on board. Smit Salvage was ordered to salvage the ship and asked Huisman to supply two hydraulic winches. The ship Rambiz with two 1500mt cranes from Huisman secured the ship. The Tricolor was cut into pieces after which the loose parts were lifted upwards.
