About the position of HSE Coordinator
As HSE Coordinator, you will develop Huisman's health, safety and environment policy at the Schiedam (Netherlands) location. You will be responsible for the implementation of HSE policy as part of our corporate strategy and in accordance with legislation, regulations and standards. As HSE Coordinator you are responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining health, safety and environmental processes, programmes and procedures to guarantee a safe and compliant working environment. As HSE Coordinator, you promote a culture of safety and environmental awareness within the organisation. You report to the HSE Manager Europe and the chair of the MT in the Netherlands.
What do we expect of you?
You develop and implement policies that not only comply with laws and regulations, but also foster sustainable and safe business operations. You monitor compliance with these rules and advise management on potential improvements. Your knowledge and expertise contribute to the success of our HSE management system, and you ensure that all procedures and instructions are properly followed.
You are also responsible for the following:
- You maintain and manage relationships with external agencies and suppliers to ensure that we always meet our statutory obligations and that our suppliers meet the highest HSE standards.
- You develop and implement risk management programmes, identify potential hazards and evaluate risks in order to effectively manage and mitigate them.
- You manage and investigate incidents, accidents and near misses to identify root causes and prevent future incidents.
As the officer responsible for the HSE department, you coach your team, draw up personal training plans and ensure optimal staffing. You also supervise audits and provide instructions to employees and contractors on safety procedures.
You report to management on the status of our HSE management system and support them in implementing improvements, for example in the area of personal protective equipment. You also support projects by drawing up HSE plans and carrying out workplace inspections.
In addition, you are responsible for organising and developing our company emergency response (BHV).

You are:
- Advisory;

- A coach for your team, with strong leadership skills.
You have:
- 5-7 years' experience in an HSE position in similar organisations;
- 1-3 years of management or coordinating experience;
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (preferably HVK advanced safety studies, MoSHE, NSPOH, A&O expert;
- A focus on implementation of HSE policy, with secondary emphasis on behavioural change;
- The ability to plan, organise and integrate activities and organisational functions, both in and outside the own discipline/department;
- VOL-VCA/SOS-SCC certificate;
- Knowledge of ISO certifications.
Some practical things we need you to have:
- An EU passport/valid work permit for The Netherlands;
- A good command of the English language verbally and in writing.
