About the position of Category Buyer

At Huisman, we’re seeking a dynamic Category Buyer to play a pivotal role in our success.
As a Category Buyer, you will be responsible for managing specific procurement categories like steel wire ropes and sliprings within our organization. Working closely with internal stakeholders, you will develop and execute procurement strategies focused on cost savings, quality improvement, and supplier performance.

What do we expect of you?
You will be responsible for:
- Sourcing: You will be the driving force behind sourcing components and services critical to our projects. Your mission? To secure them on time, within budget, and upholding the highest quality standards.
- Proactive thinking: As a Category Buyer, you would not wait for problems to arise, you will anticipate them. Collaborating closely with our Category Managers, you will initiate essential activities that ensure business continuity.
- Strive for the best: Mediocrity? Not on your watch! You will reject poor solutions and relentlessly pursue the optimal outcomes for our projects.
- Collaboration: Working hand-in-hand with our Category Managers, Supply Chain Project Leads and Expeditors, from our Supply Chain team. You will also be working together with internal stakeholders from engineering and project management. You will make sure to get the job done. Together, we will turn every project into a great success.
In Short; you ensure that Huisman obtains the best value for money spent within their assigned categories.
Wondering if you are 'equipped for impact'?
You are:
- Results-oriented with a strong focus on achieving objectives and deadlines;
- Analytical, pro-activity and show ownership.
You have:
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering;
- Nevi 1 or equivalent and Nevi 2 (or motivated to follow training);
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar procurement role, preferably within a technical environment;
- Affinity with technology;
- The ability to adapt quickly to new requirements and know how to prioritize;
- Practical disposition and a good command of the English and Dutch language orally and in writing;
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Some practical things we need you to have:
- An EU passport/valid work permit for the Netherlands;
- A good command of the English and Dutch language, verbally and in writing.
