About the position of Lead Mechanical Engineer
The mechanical engineering discipline is responsible for all structural calculations, designs, supplier specifications, routing and access for our equipment, from system design to the shop drawing phase. Furthermore, the discipline is responsible for supporting our other disciplines, such as control systems, electrical engineering, hydraulic engineering, supply chain, production, and installation, commissioning & testing. Furthermore, we provide service to our clients, where the mechanical engineers are responsible for support in fixing issues and designing upgrades.
As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you supervise a dedicated team of engineers in terms of daily operations, work content and personal development within the department's objectives and requirements. You also ensure the standardisation of processes and the execution of work within the discipline.

What do we expect of you?
As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you are responsible for technically complex projects and expertise. You contribute to the establishment, compliance, and improvement of standards and you are the manager of a group of mechanical engineers.
This means your key activities are:
- You lead a team of engineers operationally within the discipline objectives and project requirements. You are responsible for performance management within your team. You manage resources (placing the right person in the right position and setting the right priorities in activities) within the t[ES1] eam in cooperation with the local or Global Discipline Manager and Technical Project Manager.
- You ensure that discipline deliverables and multidisciplinary designs meet project requirements and discipline standards. You ensure the engineering process is properly followed throughout the entire project.
- You provide input based on your own work experience for the development and improvement of methods and technologies.
- You monitor the progress of the discipline project and ensure the team works according to the project plan. You monitor and contribute to the quality of the project in line with project requirements. You report bi-weekly, enabling continuous improvement within the project following the plan-do-check-act philosophy.
- You enhance discipline and product standards based on lessons learned from projects.

You have:
- a master's or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering;
- over 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering;
- experience in leading and guiding a team to achieve optimal performance;
- strong planning and organisational skills;
- excellent technical knowledge and mechanical skills, both in design and structural aspects;
- the ability to provide direction and guidance to a team;
- coaching skills and the ability to mentor others in their career development;
- an eye for process and discipline improvements.
Some practical things we need you to have:
- An EU passport/valid work permit for The Netherlands;
- A good command of the English language verbally and in writing.
